Lloyd Cameron Russell Moyle

Sustainable Development and Agriculture - United Kingdom (Western Europe)

Lloyd is strongly committed to young people and has been a member of the UK Youth Parliament for two years.

“I feel that it is vital for us to be aware of the people around us and that informal education is the way to help educate people in environmental actions”.

Lloyd has identified the need for greater environmental responsibility in the local area. “Action starts at home and I would encourage people to work towards tidying their living area”. Lloyd hopes to persuade local industry to take part in his plans for a greener environment.

He is part of the organisation “Woodcraft Folk” a national educational charity aiming to create a world built on equality, friendship, peace and cooperation. Lloyd helped build a community garden after floods devastated his area in 2001. The garden was designed as a space for youths affected by the floods to come together. He continues his workwith local youth groups.

At OIYP2004 Lloyd focussed on the environment. His initial Action Plan was to provide young people with good activity guides, i.e. is to empower young people and raise citizenship awareness through the production of a pocket-sized booklet for his local area. However, the idea of booklets was replaced by a website. As part of his work with ”Local Voices Local Choices” (www.lvlc.info) Lloyd has produced an under-18- website with information on environmental responsibility.

As a representative of the UK Youth Parliament, Lloyd has been involved in the set-up and development of youth forums in Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia. He was invited to Kosovo for a week in order to set up youth projects. One of the outcomes was the Kosovo Youth Council. Executive members of the Albanian youth forum were invited to the UK to join discussions on youth participation. The Macedonian youth forum is an initiative of the European Parliament and Lloyd was asked for support as a consultant.

He has helped set-up a newsletter for youth regionally and locally, and organised a music tuition program with some of Britain’s esteemed composers. He is also working for the "National Youth Agency", a government department in the UK. He is primarily working as a consultant approaching regional councils throughout the UK promoting the 5 targets the British government has formulated for youth.

Lloyd has become particularly interested in the field of globalised communication and youth participation. In November 2005 he attended the “Inauguration Conference for Young Political Leaders in Asia and Europe” in Tianjin, China.
