Gaurav Jain has been working within his rural community of Kota in Rajasthan for the last ten years. With a strong belief in the importance of social justice for all sectors of society and a commitment to rural education, training and development, Gaurav is looking forward to Oxfam IYP2004 as “an exchange of experiences.”

As a social worker and activist for the Rural Development and Youth Training Institute in Kota, Gaurav has been involved in the empowerment of villagers through social and cultural education programs. Gaurav’s contact with the young people in villages has alerted him to the pressing need for organisation within the village hierarchy. Gaurav hopes to teach young people management and organisational skills through leadership training camps that will help to empower villagers with a more sound understanding of their basic human rights.
