Vimla Jumungall
Mauritius (South Africa) - HIV / AIDS
Vimla Jumungall from Mauritius, attended IYP2004, and works with the Mauritius Family Planning Association. In 2004 she did an internship through the University of Mauritius at the Ministry of Women’s Rights, Child Development and Family Welfare. Vimla is also a member of the Optimistic Society and the Institute of Social Development and Peace and is currently working on a Skill Development Programme at the National Human Rights Commission under the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of Mauritius.
Vimla's focus is on increasing sexual health education among young people, with a particular interest in fighting the stigmas, discrimination and marginalization of people with HIV / AIDS. Through seminars, workshops, dramas and forums, Vimla and her colleagues also work to provide the psychological support necessary for those fighting the HIV virus.
