Andras Oszkar Fekete
Peace-building - Romania (Eastern Europe and FSU)
There is a lack of interaction between Romanians and Hungarians. Even though only7% of the population is Hungarian, their presence in political life is important because they hold a significant economic share. This results in a forced co-existence which often leads to violence. There is no cooperation and integration of young people. Schools are separated and even NGOs are based on ethnicity.
Oscar plans to improve cooperation between Hungarian and Romanian groups and connect youth and youth leaders of both ethnic groups. For that aim he wants to set up an “Icebreaker Training” providing knowledge about each others history. He also plans to establish an exchange program of volunteers between Romanian and Hungarian youth and he wants to found an NGO to manage common local development projects at all levels. Finally Oscar aims to establish a national Romanian-Hungarian Youth Forum.
