Sustainable Development & Agriculture - Australia

As the founder of Wellspring, a youth-run organisation that promotes sustainable development, Alan Wu’s commitment to youth and the environment is clear. He created Wellspring four years ago, and since then, the organisation has worked with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development. Alan is currently working on an education campaign dealing with sustainable consumption with UNEP and UNESCO and is also involved in developing environmental projects for both the Melbourne and Brisbane city councils.

Using the Internet, Alan plans to develop educational material for young people, illustrating the negative impacts of their purchases and consumption habits on the environment. Joining OIYP2004 as a member of the International Young Professionals Foundation, Alan hopes the experience will allow him “to continue to develop relationships with other young social activists - sharing stories, learning skills and developing new movements for change.”
