 Nicole Breeze

Manager Youth Programs

Nicole Breeze has worked with a number of human rights, social justice and development agencies internationally and in Australia, including the Edmund Rice Centre (as the Youth Development and Education Officer), Caritas Australia (on the Africa desk) and 80:20 Educating and Acting for A Just World (Dublin, Ireland). Nicole has been the Australian Coordinator of Lets Talk - a civic education project for youth from traditionally divided societies across the world and was a founding member of ReconciliACTION, a youth reconciliation body.   Through these roles Nicole has had the opportunity to spend time with people, communities and organisations who are working against poverty and injustice in El Salvador, Guatemala, Brazil, Indigenous Australia, and Northern Ireland. She also has a Masters Degree from the University of Technology in Adult Education (Community Development).

Nicole has worked with Oxfam Australia since mid 2003, firstly as the International Coordinator of OIYP, and now as the Manager of Youth Programs.  Nicole says “Young people can and do make a positive difference in their communities and in the world - there is enormous power when they come together and are supported.  The OIYP network is truly a global force for change.  Oxfam’s role is to create space and opportunities for young people to connect accross borders to work together to overcome poverty and injustice.   The young people in the OIYP network are a daily source of inspiration to me – I learn something new about life and the world we live in from them every day.”

Nicole will continue in this role through to the end of 2007 when she will say goodbye to OIYP in her formal capacity as Manager of Youth Programs to seek out some new adventures.  Stay tuned...
