Ben Rolfe
Webmaster
My resumé reveals either a curious spirit or an unfocussed mind. After obtaining a B.A. (Fine Arts) with a major in Jewellery and Silversmithing, I immediately launched into a career in web development, from which I am just now beginning to recover. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Environmental Science and working in a native plant nursery.
Almost a year ago, I attended an Oxfam event and was deeply impressed by the people I met there, and inspired by the lofty goal they set for themselves. Returning home that night I immediately registered as a volunteer. With my skills in web development, I quickly found myself in the deep end as the OIYP webmaster. In a desperate attempt not to embarrass myself in front of the amazing staff and volunteers here at OIYP, and to do what I could for the truly incredible network of action partners, I redesigned the site you are looking at now.
At 4:47AM, coding the final touches before the site's official launch tomorrow, I have to say this is the most fun you can have with an electrical appliance. I'm more proud of the this site than I have been of any other in 8 years of web development and I hope you like it too. If you want to use your professional skills in a fresh context that brings more to your life than dollars, then take my advice and volunteer your time to a cause that impassions you.
